Mike King (A Maori comedian) came in last week and gave a talk about raising awareness to Depression.
Something interesting you took from his talk:
Depression isn't always obvious, a lot of the time you never know someone has depression until it's too late.
Something I took from it:
One of the issues of depression in pride, mostly among boys because they've been raised in an environment where they can't be emotional, they can't talk about their feelings, they can't cry, so when it comes to moments like this it can get really confusing only adding to the problem.
What can I do?
I know a few friends with depression, I've been trying to help them, it isn't always enough, but I still try to be there for them.
Intetresting thoughts. Sometimes all you need to do is tell someone who is suffering that you are there for them. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you name Pride as a barrier to dealing with issues, good awareness of some struggles some boys go through. Remember you can let friends know they can talk an adult they trust as well.
